programme at the Lonely Tree Llanfyllin.

BBC Radio Wales #CountryFocus...  My short film of the making of the programme by reporter Paul Pigott. A very poignant song for the Lonely Tree at Llanfyllin (Welsh Tree of the Year 2014). Beautifully sung by Ruth Powell, accompanied by her husband Ken, who is a brilliant guitar maker & player. A VERY SPECIAL moment for all of us who were lucky enough to be present...and special wishes from Aragon / Spain and their great Chopo Cabecero (Black Poplar) tree which is also a contestant in the European Tree of the Year 2015 contest. Paul Pigott also met Lonely tree owner Peter Lewis, Dave Goodman, Doreen Cready, Pauline Page-Jones and myself at the tree at top of Greenhall Hill on a sunny October day.

The Spanish folks sent the Lonely Tree an Aragon flag and good luck wishes for 2015. Diolwch y Gracias Aragon!

Whilst at the Lonely Tree Ken & Ruth played and sang a beautiful song to the tree. It was captivating and was a very special moment for the tree & everyone there. Do not miss the programme to hear the song.

After Paul had interviewed us all we walked down Greenhall Hill and I showed Paul what I think is the best 'Phoenix' tree I have ever seen A massive Oak tree tat had fallen over around 50 years ago and was now re-growing lying on its side. We are hoping that the Lonely tree will now do the same and RISE AGAIN as it were.
